JOHANNESBURG, South Africa -- Oscar Pistorius murder trial began a new phase Monday when the Olympic athlete arrived at a state psychiatric hospital for a monthlong evaluation whose terms have been described by some as favourable to the double-amputee runner. China Jerseys Stitched . Pistorius, who killed girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in his home last year, sat in the passenger seat of a black sedan and spoke on a cellphone as he arrived behind a police van at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital in Pretoria, the South African capital. The judge who will deliver a verdict in the case asked the hospital to determine if Pistorius had a mental disorder at the time of the shooting, which could affect whether he should be held criminally responsible. Pistorius must arrive by 9 a.m. and can leave by 4 p.m. each weekday, and has weekends off under an order from Judge Thokozile Masipa. Pistorius, who is free on bail, has been staying at the upscale Pretoria home of his uncle. Pistorius outpatient status troubles some experts who say 24-hour observation is common in state psychiatric facilities. In the evenings, nursing staff can get additional insights into a patients mental state that complement formal questioning and other tests during the day, say the experts. "There is a benefit" to the after-hours observation, said Lee-Ann Hartman, a clinical psychologist who has worked in state psychiatric facilities. Masipas instruction came after a psychiatrist testified that Pistorius, who has said he feels particularly vulnerable because of his disability and long-held worry about crime, had an anxiety disorder that could have contributed to his shooting of Steenkamp on Feb. 14, 2013. The judge was responding to a prosecution request for an independent inquiry, based on concern the defence would argue Pistorius was not guilty because of mental illness. Prosecutors allege Pistorius killed Steenkamp intentionally after a late-night fight, but the athlete says he mistook his girlfriend for a dangerous intruder hiding in a toilet cubicle when he shot her multiple times through the door. There is a long waiting list for observation cases at state psychiatric hospitals and Pistorius assessment will be faster because he does not need a hospital bed, said Gerhard Grundling, chair of the Clinical Psychology Forum, a South African group. He said the observation will likely include blood tests and possible brain scans and that more specialists, including a neurologist, can get involved as needed. Additionally, in such observations, social workers gather "collateral information" in interviews with friends, family and others, according to Grundling. Other trials had been delayed for nearly a year because of patient backlogs at state mental health facilities, said Jack Bloom, an opposition member of the provincial legislature. "Everyone should be equal before the law, no matter how famous," Bloom said, urging authorities to explain the runners "preferential treatment" as an outpatient receiving speedy observation. Pistorius faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted of premeditated murder. Trial proceedings resume June 30. The high-security Weskoppies hospital was called the Pretoria Lunatic Asylum long ago. Accounts described crowded, unhygienic conditions and staffing shortages there during the 1899-1902 Anglo-Boer war, though conditions later improved. In the 1950s, two medical experts at Weskoppies wrote in South Africas medical journal that it was undesirable to house criminal suspects together with mentally ill patients who had not been charged with any crime, but noted the advantage of 24-hour scrutiny. "Under these conditions," they wrote, "any attempt to evade criminal responsibility by simulation of mental disorder is fraught with extreme difficulty." BOSTON -- Evan Turner wasnt waiting for his coach to call timeout. Once he got the ball, he knew he had to take the last shot. Fortunately for the Philadelphia 76ers, it went in at the buzzer. "I wasnt listening at all," Turner said. "I was just going to get it and try to get a good shot up." He drove into the key and went up for the short shot that gave the 76ers a 95-94 win over Boston on Wednesday night as they jumped ahead of the Celtics in the standings -- out of last place in the Atlantic Division. The win "is huge" for the teams confidence, Turner said. "We pulled through and came back from giving up a lead." Deciding whether to call a timeout "is one of the most difficult decisions because it seems like life is in slow motion," Philadelphia coach Brett Brown said. "Ive learned the busted play, the broken play, the random play is probably as good an environment as youre going to get often." Trailing by one, Michael Carter-Williams rebounded the ball after Kris Humphries missed a jumper with 12 seconds left. The rookie dribbled then gave the ball to Turner just past midcourt. And when Turner was guarded by a defender four inches shorter, he was in good shape. "I saw Jerryd Bayless switch on to me as opposed to Jeff Green, so I knew I had a little bit of an advantage," Turner said. He released his shot just in time to give the 76ers only their third win in 13 games. "Evan Turner has a history of doing that in those situations," Boston coach Brad Stevens said. "Thats why I thought hed shoot it." The Celtics (15-33) lost for the 19th time in 22 games. Spencer Hawes led Philadelphia (15-31) with 20 points and tied his career high with four 3-pointers. Turner had 16 points and eight assists and Thaddeus Young added 16 points. Jared Sullinger led Boston with 24 points and 17 rebounds but missed 16 of 25 shots. "He played his best game in a while but he still didnt shoot it the way that hes used to shooting it," Stevens said. "That said, we have to havee great performances to win. Fake China Jerseys. " Green had 18 points, but just five after the first quarter for Boston. Sullinger had broken a 90-90 tie with two free throws, putting Boston ahead with 3:06 left. Then both teams had trouble connecting from the line. Carter-Williams missed one of two for the 76ers, Bayless missed two for the Celtics and Young also missed two. Carter-Williams missed another one before sinking his second, tying the game at 92 with 1:01 remaining. Humphries put Boston back on top when he tipped in Sullingers missed layup with 42 seconds remaining. Philadelphias free throw troubles seemed to end when Turner made one, cutting Bostons lead to 94-93. But he missed the second and Bayless rebounded. That possession ended when Humphries missed his jumper, setting up the 76ers for the winning shot. Trailing 74-71 after the third quarter, the Celtics opened the fourth with a 15-4 run that gave them an 86-78 lead four minutes into the period. They hit three 3-pointers during the surge, two by Chris Johnson and one by Green. But the 76ers responded with a 12-4 spurt and tied the game at 90, capping it with back-to-back dunks by James Anderson and Young. Boston led 26-23 after the first quarter, but Philadelphia scored the first 10 points of the second to take a seven-point lead. Hawes began the surge with consecutive 3-pointers before Dewayne Dedmon made a layup and a dunk. An eight-point run gave the 76ers a 48-34 lead, but the Celtics cut that to 53-47 at halftime.
